Bark Avenue Methods & Philosophy
In interactions with our dogs, Bark Avenue employees use only positive reinforcement dog training methods, based on canine behavioral science. We use natural dog motivators like toys, treats, praise, and attention to elicit the desired behavior. Dogs are never subjected to punishment, threats, yelling, or aversive techniques involving leashes or collars.

Amanda Rotondo is the founder and former COO of Bark Avenue Doggy Day Care, a trusted cornerstone of San Francisco’s Mission Bay community for over 13 years. Built on a foundation of compassion, her love of dogs, and operational excellence, Bark Avenue became known for its personalized pet care, force-free training methods, and unwavering commitment to safety and service. With certifications in dog training and pet first aid, Amanda ensured all practices reflected evidence-based, humane standards. Beyond her hands-on care approach, she oversaw HR strategy, daily operations, and client relationships—establishing Bark Avenue as a leader in the competitive pet care industry. After selling the business in 2025, Amanda continues to champion ethical, innovative approaches to strengthening the human-animal bond.
